Misha lays down the motherfucking law. [x]

Can we just talk about how fucking disgusting it is that when Misha calls the fandom out on their misogyny some idiots have to yell “it’s because they’re evil!”  First of all, not every female character is evil… most most of them are hated on in large numbers.  Second of all, that isn’t an excuse.  The fandom doesn’t hate on the male villains, but they do hate the female villains.  Misha’s point stands and you could tell he got uncomfortable because he knew the people he was criticizing 1. don’t see their problematic behavior 2. are in the room and 3  feel it’s ok to yell at him about their problematic behavior (and 4. he was probably (obviously) still INCREDIBLY vulnerable from ECCC and knows now that the fandom doesn’t have problems taking their wank to him, which is despicable, I might add).  It just really bothers me how fucking misogynistic this fandom is.  Like why do we hate Naomi but not Crowley?  Why do we hate Lisa?  Why do we hate Amelia?  Why would people hate Ruby and not Lucifer?  (I say “why would” because I, personally, have not seen a lot of Ruby hate… I’m assuming that hate was in abundance when she was on the show, but now it’s all nostalgic feelings of love.)  I just don’t understand.  Neither does Misha.

I think this is also a good time to bring up the massive amount of grossness that clotted the Meg Masters tag before and after ‘Goodbye Stranger’.

Like even before the episode aired, the tag was filled with absolutely vile posts about ‘Meg being an evil bitch’ and ‘how dare she touch Cas!’, not to mention the more ~subtle~ posts about how Meg was just a ‘no homo’ device (and come on folks, there’s a difference between acknowledging queerbaiting on the show and reducing an entire character to how they impact your ship).

And why was there so much wank that day? Because Misha said Meg and Cas would have a ‘cute moment’

cute moment

That’s the monumental sin Meg committed. She was going to have a cute moment with Cas, and how dare a female character have a cute interaction with half of a popular slash ship??? And of course, there were several posts that celebrated Meg’s death after the actual episode.

But the writers aren’t off the hook. They ignored Meg’s character for the majority of the season, and when they brought her back, they gave her a shitton of character development, acted as if they were going somewhere with her character, and then they killed her off. Why? What did her achieve? Bought the boys a few minutes, and they never mentioned her again. Longest living demon, longest living female character, longest running recurring character, and she doesn’t get a second mention.

Kind of like Anna, except Meg died a supposedly ‘heroic’ death, while Anna’s entire character was deconstructed in under one episode and then given probably one of the shittiest character exits on the show.

While we’re on the subject of Anna, can we please talk about how both the fandom and the show constantly erases her impact and legacy? Remember how Anna’s entire story arc was given to Cas because he was a fan favorite? Remember how her interactions with the Winchesters were erased and/or retconned to figure in Castiel? Like it’s not a bad thing that Cas stuck around because he’s definitely one of the best characters Supernatural has produced, but I find it really horrible that the writers felt the need to completely erase Anna’s character in order to include him.

And of course, fans collectively hating Anna because ‘she touched the handprint’ or because she was ‘selfish’ (are you fucking shitting me), and then using the writers’ misogynistic treatment of her character to justify their hate.

It’s like the narrative and the fanbase continually feeds off each others’ sexism in order to justify their own.

But hey, ultimately, it’s the writers who’ve got the pen. Not the fans.

So I call Robert Singer’s claim of “we don’t have any female characters because you all hate them!” a load of fucking bullshit.

I’m just really happy that Misha called bullshit.

So, there’s been a reference to each Doctor’s era in chronological order since The Rings of Akhaten. If this holds true, there should be a mention of Six’s in Nightmare in Silver, and Seven’s in the finale…
